Davies has many years of experience in the financial services sector, including a stint as director of innovation at the Canadian Securities Institute and head of client strategy at Royal Bank of Canada. She has worked in the education, insurance, wealth management and banking industries.

Davies has earned a PhD in aging, health & wellbeing; her work for the degree included research into how health and social network changes affect financial decision making. She also holds an MBA in information technology management and an MA in gerontology. She has both her Canadian Securities Course and the Professional Financial Planning Course.
